When will the Huawei Mate 50 become available?

Between 2021 and 2022, Huawei’s launch plan was messed up by a number of delays caused by things that were out of their control. The much-anticipated P50 Pro was supposed to be announced in the spring of the year before. However, due to a number of delays, the product could not be bought in China until August 2021.

In fact, the worldwide version didn’t start being used anywhere else in the world until late in January of this year. Because of this, some news outlets started to say that the Mate 50 might not have been made at all because of the lack of chips around the world and the legal dispute between the Chinese company and the US government.

Other news outlets have just said that the launch was pushed back and that the new series will come out sometime in 2022. After what the vice president of the marketing department of the Huawei business group said, this seems more likely.

In February 2022, Li Changzhou told ITHome, “The Mate 50 will come, but not right now. There are still other good products out there that are worth your attention.”

According to a source that leaked on Weibo, there have also been rumors that the launch will only happen in China, or at least that it will happen first in the Asian country as it did with the P50 Pro last year.

Huawei Mate 50 price?

Since we don’t have an official price yet, we need to look at the model from the last generation to see if there are any clues that could help us figure out where to put the new model on the market.

Huawei’s Mate 40 line comes in three different versions: the Mate 40, the Mate 40 Pro, and the Mate 40 Pro+. But not all of these different kinds are sold in every area. Because of the ban in the US, Huawei phones can no longer be bought anywhere in North America unless they are brought in from China.

Because of this, because of things like taxes and customs fees, it might be hard to give an accurate price estimate. In some places, like Europe, the United Kingdom, and Australia, the Mate 40 Pro is the only phone you can buy, and it can cost up to €1,199.

Here is a list of all of the prices that can be found everywhere in China:

  • Huawei Mate 40: 4,999 yen / $780 / €675
  • Huawei Mate 40 Pro: 5,899 yen / $920 / €795
  • Huawei Mate 40 Pro+: 8,499 yen / $1,330 / €1,145

According to these figures, the Huawei Mate 50 models could cost the following:

  • Huawei Mate 50: $1,099 / €939
  • Huawei Mate 50 Pro: $1,499 / €1,199
  • Huawei Mate 50 Pro+: $1,779/€1,499

What will the Huawei Mate 50 be saying?

Because the Mate 50 is such a legendary model for the company, there is no doubt that the hardware requirements for the device will be very high. GizmoChina says that the Mate 50 series of phones will be run by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 CPU.

On the other hand, due to restrictions put in place by the US government, it is expected that Huawei will only give it 4G connectivity, similar to the Snapdragon 888 4G that runs the P50 Pro and is available in most places.

The Mate 40 Pro could connect to 5G networks because it used Huawei’s Kirin 9000 CPUs, but this series would be stopped. In the past few months, the number of people who think Huawei is working on a 5G phone cover has gone up.

This is an attachment that could give a 4G phone access to 5G networks. This would allow it to get around the commercial restrictions that have been put on it while still launching 5G phones.

An image that looks like it’s for a gadget called the Mate 50 has been found online, but it’s too early to say for sure if the image is for the Mate 50 or not. Since a third-party company has already made exactly one case like this for the P50 Pro, this idea can be put into action.

Huawei mobile 5G housing case

The issue that has to be answered here is whether or not Huawei has access to the components that are necessary to construct such a case, or whether or not it will need to depend on partners to make it. The business asserts that it is in the process of constructing its own production factory so that it will no longer be dependent on manufacturers such as TSMC.

The disappointing piece of information is that it won’t be able to produce phone chips for some time. It was reported in the Financial Times that the factory would begin production by producing chips using a 28nm manufacturing process for Internet of Things devices. This indicates that there is still a long way to go before the plant can produce 7nm chips for mobile phones.

GizmoChina also says that the Mate 50 smartphones will have LTPO panels, which is in line with other upcoming phones that will adopt the technology in 2022, such as the Galaxy S22 Ultra and the Realme GT 2 Pro. The Mate 50 devices are expected to be released later this year.

These panels have a much greater peak brightness and enable superior variable refresh rates up to 120Hz at reduced power consumption. In addition, these panels are more energy efficient than the panels that are currently available.

A display industry analyst named David Naranjo, who tweeted out a list of phones that are anticipated to employ LTPO panels in 2022, has also been the source of similar speculations, we have seen.

Another thing that we are certain of is the fact that the phone will not be branded with the Leica name. The camera manufacturer that has worked closely with Huawei for many years has recently formed a partnership with Xiaomi. As a result, the latest models of the Xiaomi 12 range all have the brand’s badge.

We can confirm that the collaboration between our two businesses came to an end on March 31,” a Huawei official said to the Android Authority a few days ago. “We can confirm that the relationship between our two companies has come to an end,” the Huawei representative added.

An unusual proposal has been presented in the form of a video concept for the Huawei Mate 50 Pro, which was developed by the designer HoilNDI. He put together a fantastic movie showcasing the new phone that has two enormous circles on the back by using a variety of leaks and rumors that circulated about the impending model.

We don’t know if the Huawei Mate 50 will look anything like this re-creation, but hopefully, we’ll find out soon. Look at some of the other things we’ll see at the IFA fair.
